THE SUPREME COURT OF GEORGIA CELEBRATES THE BIRTHDAY OF ILIA CHAVCHAVADZE

On November 7, 2014, the whole staff of the Supreme Court of Georgia celebrated the 177th anniversary of Great Georgian Writer and Public Figure Ilia Chavchavadze and the different events was held.

Within the frame of the anniversary events for the staff members of the Supreme Court there was shown of the new film - Who Killed Ilia, prepared by the archive of the Ministry of Interior.

The archive director of the Ministry of Interior Omar Tushurashvili, other representatives of the Ministry, the film director Michael Berinashvili, historian Tengiz Simashvili and the actor Zaza Iakashvili attended the film presentation. The Head of the Supreme Court Administration Irakli Khutsurauli met the invited guests in the Hall of the King George the Brilliant. During the meeting the parties discussed the future cooperation between the archive of the Ministry of Interior and the Supreme Court, as well as the details and future plans. Besides there was held the presentation of special edition of the journal "Archives Bulletin", which is entirely devoted to the details of the assassination of Ilia Chavchavadze.

It should be noted that the most part of the film "Who Killed Ilia" was made at the Court Room of the Supreme Court were Gigla Berbichashvili trial was held. A few days ago, within the framework of the cooperation between these two institutions, the Supreme Court of Georgia sent to the archive of the Ministry 2 volumes of Ilia Chavchavadze murder case in electronic version which will be attached to the criminal case in the archive.

Before the film presentation the Head of the Supreme Court Administration Irakli Khutsurauli expressed the gratitude to the employees for exemplary performance of their official duties. 

Besides, the staff members of the Supreme Court paid the special tribute to the writers grave at the Mtatsminda Pantheon and the visited the museum of Ilia Chavchavadze that is situated in Tbilisi on Javakhishvili Street.
