Presentation of Mediation Project

On February 10, 2014 at Citizens Service Centre of Tbilisi City Court an open day was held on Mediation. Judicial and executive authorities, as well as representatives of non-governmental and international organizations attended the project presentation. The Chairman of the Supreme Court Mr. Konstantin Kublashvili addressed the invited guests and talked about importance of Mediation and the benefits of the project.

Mediation - this is an alternative method of dispute resolution that attempts to settle any kind of conflict through negotiation. During the Mediation the parties are to receive the decision. The mediator is a neutral, independent person with relevant qualification who helps the parties to hold the dialogue, trying to identify the real interests of the parties and to reach mutually acceptable and optimal outcomes. The mediation process is completely confidential. Mediator and parties are not allowed to disclose the information which has become known to them during the mediation process.

Over a year, Mediators attended of intense and comprehensive training course in mediation given by CEDR-s (British experts) as well as the American, German and Dutch expert guidance. As a result, sixteen mediators have received international accreditation.

The invited guests visited mediation session rooms at the new Citizens Service Center of the City Court.
