Mzia Todua received Carl Hartzell, Ambassador of EU to Georgia

On 26 October, the acting chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Mzia Todua received the Ambassador of EU to Georgia, Carl Hartzell and the Manager of EU cooperation programme in Justice sector, Peter Denis. The meeting touched upon significant aspects of the current judiciary reforms. The acting chairperson provided the guests with information concerning selection procedures of judges and highlighted the point of new constitution enforcement and its consequences upon the selection terms and their number increasing to 28 persons serving at the Supreme Court. She discussed in details the criterion necessary for selecting the judges, like impartiality, independence and high qualifications. The meeting also covered the issues of improving the educational programmes of the High School of Justice for training the judges and the need for continuous learning and capacity building.
