Working Meeting on Restorative Justice

A Working meeting was held on Restorative Justice/ Mediation in Criminal Law and Juvenile Justice organized by EU4Justice and Crime Prevention Center at hotel “Lopota Lake”. The participants were welcomed by EU4 Justice team leader, Justice  Renate Winter, Chairperson of the Supreme court and HCoJ Nino Gvenetadze and deputy minister of the Ministry of Justice, Micheil Sarjveladze.

The speakers -Professor Ivo Aertsen and Justice Renate Winter, talked about issues of restorative justice: practice, models, European and international regulations, standards and research innovations. The topics discussed by Nino Gvenetadze and expert Lado Javakhishvili included mediation and diversion programs as additional measures of restorative justice in compliance with the Juvenile Justice Code. The meeting was concluded with discussion on the role of prosecutor and judges in implementation of restorative justice.
