Delegation of Nepal at the Supreme Court of Georgia

On July 9-13 the Supreme Court of Georgia hosted a delegation from the judiciary system of Nepal, headed by Justice, Hon. Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai. The delegation consisted of three tiers: the panel of  judges (a judge from the Supreme Court of Nepal, a judge from the High Court of Nepal and a judge from the District court of Nepal), three court registers and three representatives from Mediation Council.

Guests were welcomed by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and HCoJ Nino Gvenetadze. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia and international donor organizations.

The Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia, provided detailed information on  challenges existing in the Georgian judiciary system, also analyzed the significant changes conducted in the process  of implementation of the Juvenile Justice Code in the country, the Court prospects for Juvenile Justice Regulations related to diversion and mediation programs.

During the meetings with the judges of the civil , criminal and administrative chambers of the Supreme Court of Georgia, participants talked about past history, achievements, functioning, structure and ongoing reforms in the judicial system  of both Georgia and Nepal.

Members of Nepal delegation held meetings at  Tbilisi City Court on mediation issues and at the Center for Crime Prevention of the Ministry of Justice on diversion and mediation programs implementation.

After working meetings, the Supreme Court of Georgia arranged a cultural tour for the guests and they had opportunity to see Tbilisi and Mtskheta sights and taste Georgian national cuisine.

The 5-days visit was a very productive starting point for professional and friendly collaboration between  judiciary system of Nepal and Georgia.
