Monitoring report of the High Council of Justice

The Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and HCoJ, Nino Gvenetadze participated in the presentation of the High Council of Justice Monitoring Report #6, prepared by   Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and Transparency International – Georgia.  

Nino Gvenetadze addressed  the participants  and spoke on the development of the five-year Strategy and Action Plan in May last year, where the representatives of civil society, international and donor organizations were actively involved, also about the reforms of the judicial system .

According to the strategy, it is very important to raise the transparency of the High Council of Justice, to ensure justification of the decisions and inform the public about activities of the High Council of Justice, on the basis of implementation of Annual Reports or Statistical Data Practice.

In addition, within the framework of the Fourth Wave Working Group, initiated by the Parliament of Georgia, the Chairperson of the High Council of Justice submitted proposals on improvement of the norms regulating the activities of the High Council of Justice.

Nino Gvenetadze expressed hope that the formats of the cooperation of the civil society and the High Council of Justice will be strengthened. Also, she expressed her readiness to discuss the monitoring report and all the proposals that civil society representatives have at the High Council of Justice, as well as in the Supreme Court of Georgia.
