PUBLIC CONFERENCE OF JUDGES ON INDEPENDEBCE STANDARDS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL OF JUSTICE

“Judges Independence Standards in USA and Georgia” - a public conference of judges was held on this topic, organized by High Council of Georgia, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the East-West Management Institute.
Attendees were welcomed by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and HCoJ, Nino Gvenetadze, who spoke in details about the reforms implemented in the Georgian justice system and existing challenges and those planned events that should cope with these challenges and establish independent, impartial and transparent judicial system in our country. The Chairperson thanked the department of justice of American Embassy, donor organizations, including U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for their support that is very important . “I hope, in future we will continue to cooperate with representatives of the justice system of our countries, which in turn will play a major role in increasing trust in the judiciary and improving the quality of human rights “ noted Nino Gvenetadze .
The conference was attended by American judges who shared their experience with Georgian colleagues.
US Federal District Court Judge, Allyson Duncan expressed hope that the shared experience will help Georgian judges in better implementation of the current judicial reform.
