HIGH SCHOOL OF JUSTICE CELEBRATED 12TH ANNIVERSARY

The International Conference “Challenges of Modern Judicial Training” was held at the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel on the 12th anniversary of the High School of Justice.
The participants of the conference were representatives of the judicial training institutes of Latvia, France, Croatia and the United Kingdom together with the Secretary General of “European Judicial Training Network (EJTN)” and the director of Belgian Judicial Training Institute.
The welcome remarks of the event were made by:
Mr. Lasha MAGHRADZE, Director of the High School Justice, “Strengthening Judicial Training through Twinning”, Project Leader;
Ms. Nino GVENETADZE, Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Chairperson of the High Council of Justice of Georgia;
Mr. Giorgi MIKAUTADZE, Secretary of the High Council of Justice of Georgia.
Mr. Peter DANIS, Attaché, Program Manager, Delegation of the European Union to Georgia;
Mr. Edvins BALSEVICS, Director General of National Courts Administration of the Republic of Latvia; “Strengthening Judicial Training through Twinning”, Project Leader;
"It is very timely to update the training processes at the High School of Justice, as well as the existing judges retraining programs, as well as the reform of the High School of Justice. The present conference and recommendations provided by experts will undoubtedly help us to identify current challenges and prepare relevant legislative proposals for their solution” –noted the Chairperson of the Supreme Court in her speech .
In course of the event the participants were provided with the information about the development and achievements of the High School of Justice. In addition to some other issues the participants shared their experience in the following fields: recruitment and appointment of judicial candidates; importance of quality of initial training; the balance between legal and non-legal training; digital learning component.
The international conference was conducted in the framework of the cooperation between the High School of Justice and the EU supported project - “Strengthening Judicial Training through Twinning”.
