The Visit of the Lithuanian Delegation to the Supreme Court of Georgia

Delegation of Kaunas Regional Court  judges and members of the High Council of Justice of Lithuania visited the Supreme Court of Georgia. The delegation was hosted by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and the High Council of Justice, Ms Nino Gvenetadze. The Lithuanian  judges held meetings with members of the Supreme Court of Georgia and  High Council of Justice. The Secretary of the High Council of Justice, Giorgi Mikautadze, greeted the guests. 

Ms. Nino Gvenetadze provided the guests with detailed information concerning current reforms and accomplishments in the judiciary system of Georgia, and in particular, significant issues of strategies and action plans of the judiciary system of Georgia that had been worked out in full accordance with European law. Ms.Nino Gvenetadze highlighted the importance of partnership between  Lithuanian and Georgian judiciary systems, especially  within  the framework of EU association agreement.

Chairman of the Civil case division of Kaunas regional court, Mr. Mindaugas Šimonis delivered a speech upon significance of promotion of relations and sharing judiciary experience between these two countries. Georgian and Lithuanian colleagues had discussions upon recent reforms of the Judiciary and Labor law, alternative dispute resolution – arbitration.

The judiciary delegation of Lithuania visited the Museum of Justice and the historical building of the Supreme Court of Georgia. Later they visited  Tbilisi City Court where they were welcomed by the judges of the court and introduced to litigation issues of the City Court.

Tomorrow the Lithuanian judges will visit Tbilisi Appellate Court and meet local judges and get familiar with judicial procedures there.
