VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE OF ROMANIA TO THE SUPREME COURT OF GEORGIA

On June 28 of 2016   Minister of Justice of Romania - Alexandra Raluca Pruna made an official visit to the Supreme Court of Georgia. Director of International Law and Justice at Ministry of Justice of Romania - Viviana Onaca, Consul for Communications   -Julia Costea, Adviser in International Relations – Lorin Ovisiu Hagima   and judges of the Supreme Court of Georgia attended the meeting. The meeting was led by the Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Court and Chairman of the chamber of Civil Cases - Ms. Mzia Todua.                

The Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Court - Ms.  Mzia Todua introduced to the participants of the meeting the System of Common Courts of Georgia and  made a special emphasis on  the role of the Court of Cassation, as the highest and last instance court of the Administration of  Justice throughout the entire territory of Georgia.         

Within the frames of the meeting the Deputy Chairperson considered the arrangements planned   with the purpose of improving of the quality of the judicial proceedings.  The arrangements include: activation of the electronic allocation of cases, refining of the disciplinary procedures, creation of the Georgian analogue of the electronic search system of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (HUDOC) and publishing of all the decisions made by the Court protecting sensitive personal data. Mzia Todua provided the members of the Delegation with the general information on the activities of the Supreme Court.       

The participants of the meeting exchanged their experience through question and answer mode on the duration and terms of case hearing and loading of judges.    

Minister of Justice of Romania expressed her hope that within the frame of  legal agreement between the countries the mutual cooperation will be developed in more closer and constructive format.

The meeting ended with the exchange of the memorable gifts. The Justice Minister of Romania and members of the delegation accompanied by the Georgian judges saw over the historical building of the Supreme Court and visited the Museum of Justice located in the same building.
