THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE SUPREME COURT AND THE HIGH COUNCIL OF JUSTICE IS PAYING AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE UNITIED STATES OF AMERICA

The Chairperson of the Supreme Court and The High Council of Justice, Ms. Nino Gvenetadze on May 26 -29 of the current year will take part in the 13th Biennial International Conference of the International Association of Women Judges “Women Judges and the Rule of Law: Assessing the Past, Anticipating the Future.” Judges of the Supreme Council - Ekaterine Gasitashvili and Nino Bakakuri and Judge of the Civil Court Miranda Eremadze are attending the Conference.
On May 25 and 26 of the current year within the frames of the official visit to the USA, the Chairperson of the Supreme Court had an appointment with the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor – Robert Berschinski, Director of the Global Legal Research Center of the Law Library of Congress - Peter Roudik, Assistant Administrator of USAID- Thomas O. Melia and representatives of the Federal Judicial Center of the USA. At the meeting Ms. Nino Gvenetadze talked with the foreign colleagues about the challenges facing the Georgian Justice. The Chairperson of the Supreme Court introduced to the parties of the meeting the significant amendments to the legislation planned within the third stage of Justice. She also reviewed the issues concerning the long – term strategy and Action Plan of Justice within the frames of the High Council of Justice and all the planned activities aiming at improvement of the quality of justice.
Within the frames of the official visit to the United States of America the Chairperson of the Supreme Court and The High Council of Justice, together with the Georgian judges will meet with the Justice of the Supreme Court of the USA - Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The visit of the delegation of the Georgian judges to the United State of America has been supported by the East –West Management Institute (EWMI) within the frames of the project of “Promoting Rule of law in Georgia” (PROLoG).
