THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE SUPREME COURT AND HIGH COUNCIL OF JUSTICE MS. NINO GVENETADZE HOSTED THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE OF LATVIA – MR. DZINTARS RASNACS

On May 20 of 2016 the Chairperson of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice Ms. Nino Gvenetadze hosted the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Latvia headed by the Minister of Justice of Latvia – Dzintars Rasnacs.        

At the meeting the parties discussed the actual topics of justice of the Georgian and Latvian systems and namely, the problems of loading of the court and case management, alternative dispute resolution means and the informational technologies used within the judiciary.      

The Chairperson of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice introduced to the guests the significant changes considered within the third   phase of the Reform.  Ms. Nino Gvenetadze gave a special emphasis to the activities planned for the improvement of the judicial proceedings concerning  the creation of HUDOC Database Georgian analogue with support of Council of Europe.

The meeting was held  in the regime of a dialogue and the members of the delegation on the basis of Latvian experience in  the field of  legislation and judicial practice  gave the answers to the questions posed by the Georgian justices  in the sphere of  mediation, recognition of the  arbitration award by courts  and Juvenile Justice system. 

At the end of the meeting the Chairperson of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice Ms. Nino Gvenetadze marked, that for the successful   implementation of the reform it is necessary for the Judiciary to have an active communication with the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the corresponding institutions of foreign countries. 

The members of the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Latvia expressed their gratitude to the Chairperson of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice for the warm hospitality and provided information. Within the frames of the visit to the Supreme Court the members of the delegation accompanied with the Georgian judiciaries looked around the historical building of the Court and saw the Museum of Justice.      

The seven person delegation of Latvia is in Tbilisi with the official visit. Within the frames of the visit a member of the delegation - Head of the projects of the Funds of the European Union of the Court Administration of Latvia   -   Anna Skryabina    - will hold a meeting with the justices of the City Court of Tbilisi.
