On May 9 of  2016  the Chairperson of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice Ms. Nino Gvenetadze  attended the presentation on Council of Europe’s  Action Plan for Georgia presented at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this regard  Council of Europe’s Deputy Secretary General, Mrs. Battaini-Dragoni and  Bulgarian Foreign Minister  and  the Chairman  of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe -  Daniel Mitov  paid an  official visit  to Georgia.

The audience attending the  meeting  was addressed by:  the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia – Mikheil Janelidze; Minister  of Foreign Affairs  of Bulgaria – Daniel Mitov, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriela Battaini- Dragoni   and the Chairperson of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice – Nino Gvenetadze.

The  Chairperson of the Supreme Court and High Council of Justice – Nino Gvenetadze  emphasized  during her speech  a great merit  of the projects  funded by the Council of Europe in the process of improvement of independence and impartiality of  Justice  of Georgia.

“The mainstream of the action plan of the Council of Europe for the years of 2016-2019  in the system of Justice is implementation of the practice of  the Court of  Europe  in the  domestic courts’ decisions for guaranteeing protection of  rights of the Convention of Human rights. For this very reason  in the 6 courts of the big regions of Georgia, in its West  and East  parts the position of the consultant  was instituted. The position maintains  provision of  information to the judges on the decisions of the Court of Europe.  We   strongly believe, that the success of the mentioned project  will be followed not only by the implementation of the practice of  Court of Europe in the domestic courts’ decisions, but the number of the grounded decisions will   significantly  increase, and all this  together with the effective  fulfillment of the recommendations of the Public Defender help  raise the  degree of  justice and trust in the society”  -   marked Ms. Nino Gvenetadze speaking about the planned activities  aimed at the improvement of the degree of  Justice.

The first persons of the executive authorities of Georgia, representatives of the diplomatic corps   accredited in Georgia and other  honorable guests   attended the meeting.
