Nino Gvenetadze met with the Special Advisor of Government of Georgia on Human rights and the Rule of Law

On March 1, 2016 the chairperson of the Supreme Court and the High Council of Justice Nino Gvenetadze met with the Special Advisor of Government of Georgia on Human Rights and the Rule of Law.
Nino Gvenetadze informed the Special advisor regarding the challenges existing in the judiciary. The Chairperson of the Supreme Court and the High Council of Justice reviewed the legislative amendments planned in the framework of the third stage reform of the judiciary and paid particular attention on the introduction of new standards of admissibility of the complaint in the court of cassation, which envisages the indication of case law and norms of European Court in the cassation appeal by appellant parties. Nino Gvenetadze noted at the meeting that by assistance of experts of Council of Europe creation of Georgian analogue of electronic search system of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (HUDOC) is underway. That will enhance the quality of decisions of legal reasoning.
In the framework of the meeting the chairperson of the Supreme Court and the High Council of Justice informed Mr. O’Boyle regarding those organizational activities, which were conducted in order to be entirely prepared for enactment of the new procedure of interrogation of witness during the investigation.
Michael O’Boyle thanked Nino Gvenetadze for providing the comprehensive information and expressed hope that future cooperation will be even more active and productive.
The Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Cristian Urse and the Assistant of Prime Minister of Georgia in Human Rights and Gender Equality Issues, Sopho Japaridze attended the meeting.
