Presentation of Scientific Work in the Supreme Court

On February 16, 2016 at the Supreme Court the presentation of the scientific work was held, which was implemented by the initiative group of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University law professors and was published within the scientific project on "Criminal law liberalization trends in Georgia".
The Chairperson of the Supreme Court and the High Council of Justice, professor Nino Gevnetadze greeted the audience. Also the rector of Tbilisi State University Vladimir Papava, dean of the faculty of law Irakli Burduli, chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of Parliament Eka Beselia were also presented with the welcoming speeches towards the audience.
The group of authors informed the audience regarding the objectives of the scientific project. Namely, the aim of the scientific work presents supporting of Georgian legislators for improving of legislation in Criminal law liberalization process. Group of authors elaborated the recommendations for decriminalization of such actions that transference would be more appropriate to the Code of Administrative Offences. In the framework of the project the initiative group of professors has been studied the existing sentences, in terms of proportionality and individualization, also, the survey of current practice was conducted in the use of alternative sentencing measures.
Scientific work "criminal law liberalization trends in Georgia" was published as the book with the financial assistance of "Open Society - Georgia" Foundation.
