First jury trial

On November 9, 2011, Tbilisi City Court, with the participation of jury, started to consider the criminal case against accused Revaz Demetrashvili, charged for murder and robbery of Minasiani family members in an aggravating circumstances.
Nino Sandodze, judge of the Criminal Board of the Tbilisi City Court, chaired the jurors open court hearing, which is the first precedent in the modern Georgian judiciary history.

Today prosecutor and defense side presented introductory notes on the court hearing. But before the above said, jurors took an oath and elected chief juror by drawing lots.

After the hearing the introductory notes, the attorney of the accused brought the motion before the court to put off the case, due to the health problems under which he couldn’t properly defense the rights of the accused.

The Court satisfied the motion of the attorney with the motive not to violate the accused defense rights and put off the case hearing on November 10, 2011, at 10 a.m.
