On October 22, 2015 the Supreme Court held the working meeting with the International expert from Israel - Jotham Tolub. The workshop was organized by the "Partnership for Human Rights" (PHR). Mr. Jotham Tolub is the legal adviser to the Human Rights Center of Israel of persons with disabilities. He has extensive theoretical and practical experience in this field.
The workshop was aimed at reviewing the reform oriented issues for improving the legal statues of persons with disabilities and sharing the international experience in this regard. The international expert made presentation and introduced to the participants the human rights situation of persons with disabilities in dynamically developing stages in the last twenty years.
Under the framework of the meeting the participants paid attention on the Constitutional Courts decision, on October 8, 2014, In the case of "Irakli Kemoklidze and David Kharadze against the Parliament of Georgia". According to which the legal status of legally incapable persons was changed. In particular, the Parliament, under the legislative regulation, laid the basis for a completely new approach and system.
The meeting was underway in discussion and question-and-answer format. It was attended by the judges of the Supreme and Tbilisi City Courts, also the employees of the analytical department of the Supreme Court.
Participants of the meeting set up the future plans for cooperation.
