On October 1, 2015, the Supreme Court held the meeting of EU assessment mission experts with judges. In the framework of Georgia-EU visa dialogue, the EU assessment mission representatives were interested primarily in four areas: Migration, asylum policy, human trafficking and corruption. Experts expressed interest in the implementation of the recommendations provided by the third report of European Commission and interested what effective measures are being taken to fulfill the recommendations. Judges presented information about the related legislative amendments connected with the issue. Judges explained to experts that the legislative amendments will ensure effective execution of justice for asylum seekers and persons that request to obtain refugee or humanitarian status.
At the meeting also was discussed the revealed errors of judicial practice, its causes and ways of solution. Judges provided information to the experts regarding the legislative amendments implemented into the law on “Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons', which was conditioned by the visa policy. As a result of legislative amendments it becomes possible to manage the migration processes at the legislative level.
The assessment mission gave a positive evaluation of recent court statistics, according to which the satisfaction of the suit in this regard has been increased.
It should be noted that the experts of assessment mission will publish the report of European Commission on enactment of action plan of Georgias visa liberalization by November 15.
