On July 6, 2011, the Kutaisi City Court accomplished the case trial, robbery of Kutaisi Jeweler’s store “Theatroni”.
The accused persons – Sulkhan Makaridze, Zviad Bitsadze, Giorgi Kobakhidze, Sergo Qurtsadze and Kakhaber Revishvili had been convicted. They were charged for robbery of huge amount of substances in group from the store and for prior consent of illegal deprivation of liberty with life-threatening violence. Besides above said, Sulkhan Makaridze was charged for premeditated murder of the policeman in aggravating circumstances.
According to the case materials, the members of the criminal group, placed and bound the “Ford” micro bus driver on the back seat of his car and stole it. With the stolen car the criminal group arrived at the store “Theatroni” on Paliashvili street. The members of the criminal group disarmed the two policemen with the firearms and automatic weapon, injured the persons being in the store and misdeed the large quantity of gold from the counter. For the moment of leaving, police officer Alex Liluashvili resisted the criminals, when Sulkhan Makaridze from the short distance shot him in the stomach. Criminals disappeared from the place of murder, Liluashvili died as he was placed in hospital.
The court listened up to thirty victims, twenty witnesses and direct participant of the crime – Davit Telia, who born the testimony. The court got information on outcomes of biological expertise, identification protocols and other written evidences. As a result considered, that criminals are convicted.
Four convicted persons were imprisoned for other crimes and serving the sentence for the moment of charge of the above mentioned punishment. Correspondingly, the punishment envisaged for the crime was added to the unexpired punishment.
According to the judgment of the Kutaisi City Court, Sulkhan Makaridze was charged with imprisonment for 33 years in length, Zviad Bitsadze – 24 years in length, Giorgi Kobakhidze – 19 years in length, Kakha Revishvili – 40 years in length, and Sergo Qurtsadze – 25 years in length.
