On March 19, 2014, the press conference was held at the Supreme Court of Georgia, where the Chairman Mr. Konstantin Kublashvili met the media representatives and answered their questions.
At the beginning Mr. Konstantin Kublasvili briefed the journalists about the candidates enrolled in the High School of Justice. According to the decision of High Council of Justice issued on March 18, 2014, the 16 new listeners were enrolled in the High School of Justice, nine of them have worked in the court system.
The Chairman of the Supreme Court also provided the media with the information concerning the Court Services Quality Survey. The survey was conducted in February 2014, taking into account the recommendations of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice and 1330 court users were interviewed in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi courts.
According to surveys, only 8 percent of respondents declare that they are not satisfied with the court service, while more than half of the respondents 65.7 percent are very satisfied or satisfied with the quality of court service. Court users impression after appearance in court have changed to positive in case of 43.8 percent, 35.9 percent of users have always the positive attitude and still it is not changed, only the 5 percent of respondents said that their attitude has changed for the worse. As for the trust towards the courts, only 5.7 percent of respondents do not trust the judicial system, the majority of respondents 58.1 percent trust the courts system, while 33.7 percent trust more or less the court.
The Court Services Quality Survey also displayed the index of citizens attitudes toward corruption in the judiciary. According to the survey, only 0.3 percent of respondents think that the judges take bribes, the majority believes that the bribery does not exist anymore in the court system.
The Chairman of the Supreme Court of Georgia also answered the questions concerning the new rules of questioning the witnesses during the trial. Mr. Konstantin Kublashvili also answered the questions on appointment of judges for life term office, on the appointment of judges for the probation period and on the guarantees of judicial independence.
