On October 4, 2018 an international conference “Arbitration Days 2018” was opened, aiming at discussion of business dispute resolutions and related challenges and opportunities. The conference participants covered topics concerning newly-established approaches and online and digital technologies in the field of international arbitration. The conference involved representatives of successful lawyers and arbitrators from various countries.
The ambassador of EU to Georgia, Carl Hartzell spoke about importance of international arbitration for business development.
“EU supports interests of Georgian entrepreneurs in order to improve legislation and judicial activities in this direction. Thus, we facilitate development of arbitration as a long-lasting and valuable alternative to the judicial system”-stated Hartzell.
The Arbitration Days were completed with different educational and informational activities, including practical workshops for businesses on development of arbitration agreements and workshop on arbitration ethics, led by a professional organization of arbitrators “Chartered Institute of Arbitrators”.
During the event a signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between Georgian International Arbitration Center and Vienna International Arbitration Center was held. The Agreement binds the sides to organize mutual activities, share information on regional arbitration practice, enhance cooperation in directions like, arbitration proceedings and efficient resolution of disputes.
The International Arbitration Conference in Tbilisi is organized by the GIAC, and financed by a generous support of the European Union and the United Nations Development Program.
