On July 25, High Council of Justice supported a joint meeting with GIZ and EU4 Justice within the framework of judicial cooperation concerning presentation of the Progress Report of the Judiciary Strategy (2017-2018). The meeting was presided by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and HCoJ, Nino Gvenetadze and the Secretary of HCoJ, Giorgi Mikautadze.
The agenda included four sessions moderated by Nino Gvenetadze and Justice Renate Winter. The topics discussed were the following: Impartiality and Independence, Accountability, Efficiency and Accessibility of the Judiciary. The Chairperson talked about the prehistory of the Strategy development, significance of its implementation and distinguished the most important aspects, like lifetime appointment of judges, specialization of judges dealing with juvenile cases and right to a fair trial.
Nino Gvenetadze also mentioned about the mechanisms for efficient implementation and monitoring of the Strategy developed by High Council of Justice and expressed gratitude towards donor organization for their valuable contribution to this matter.
