The United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, Allyson Kay Duncan met with the female judges at the Supreme Court of Georgia.
The meeting was headed by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and HCoJ Nino Gvenetadze, who thanked the guest for the visit and interesting meetings.
Nino Gvenetadze emphasized on the importance of international donors contribution, especially in the framework of exchange of visits by foreign judges and Georgian judges . Such cooperation plays the most important role in establishing independent, impartial and transparent judiciary in Georgia. It also facilitates its functioning in line with international legal standards.
The Chairperson recalled the visit of the Georgian Judge women in the United States conducted within the frame of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)t project "Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia" (PROLoG), their meeting with the Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, the world-famous, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
As it was mentioned, another visit of Georgian judges to the United States is planned in the nearest future, which will further strengthen and develop professional relations between Georgian and American judges.
Judge Allyson Kay Duncan spoke about the specific examples of how successful a judge woman can be in her own position, in family and in social work, what problems women faced because of their skin color and their status in the society for their establishment in the judiciary.
