On 9 March 2018, a closing ceremony of the Winter School of Justice was hosted by the Supreme Court of Georgia where best students of the course were awarded. They are: 1) Tamta Kenia- representative of the national and international court practice and generalization department of Tbilisi City Court; 2)Tamta Sajaia- Assistant to Judge of Tbilisi City Court; 3) Khatia Shekiladze-representative of the judiciary support unit of HCoJ; 4)Nino Baghashvili- representative of the judiciary support unit of the Supreme Court of Georgia; 5) Tamar Chalidze-an assistant to judge from Tbilisi Court of Appeals. The five best scoring participants received certificates and following awards: a participation in study visits in USA, to Strasbourg Court and one of the International Courts in Hague.
The Winter School of Justice is the first ever programme designed for the legal support personnel of Common Courts in Georgia and law students initiated by donor organisations and implemented in cooperation with the Supreme Court of Georgia and the High Council of Georgia.
The programme of the Winter School has been delivered by prominent international and local experts and covered such essential topics like: Independence of Judiciary; Communication within judiciary and with parties; Human Rights Standards in the practice of national courts; Constitutional Court Practice and judicial referral to the constitutional Court; Prohibition of Discrimination and Gender Based Discrimination; discriminatory stereotypes; Practical Session on Legal Reasoning; Human Rights Based Approach; Restorative Justice and Alternative Dispute Resolution; Major International Instruments in Juveniles Justice and special aspects of child’s development and etc.
