On February 13, 3018 a working meeting was held at the Supreme Court of Georgia concerning the cooperation agreement upon publication of the Criminal Law Statistical Data. The participants of the meeting were parties involved in the agreement: representatives of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, Ministry of Corrections and Probation and National Statistics Office of Georgia.
The meeting was led by the chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and HCoJ, Nino Gvenetadze. She focused on significance and topicality of the aspects under the agreement and talked about necessity of these types of meetings for representatives of the sides in order to come to the final coordinated and improved version of the agreement.
The participants talked about establishing a unified and integrated criminal case management system with further improvement and involvement of the parties of the agreement responsible for that. They also talked about the corrections and amendments to be done in the statistical data in order to have the final text of the agreement relevant to international standards, taking into account requirements and guidelines issued by the CEPEJ (the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice) as well. They suggested presenting the statistical data on criminal law to the National Statistics Office in two languages: Georgian and English. This would facilitate to initial avoidance of the drawbacks resulted from misinterpretation of the statistical information in the process of translating it by different bodies in charge.
The meeting was followed by dynamic discussions and the participants agreed upon introducing the final version of the agreement by the next meeting within a month period.
