Another meeting of the scientific and consultation council was held at the Supreme Court of Georgia on December 18, 2017. The meeting was dedicated to the 17th midterm report of the “Judicial Monitoring Program” undertaken by UN Georgia and U.S.Embassy Department of Justice. The report includes period from December 2016 to May 2017 and touches upon monitoring of criminal proceedings in common courts. The meeting was attended by the authors of the report, members of High Council of Justice and judges working on criminal proceedings Common Courts. The participants were greeted by the Chairwoman of the Supreme Court of Georgia and High Council of Justice Nino Gvenetadze who spoke about significance of the report. Legal Resident Advisor of the Department of Justice at the U.s. Embassy, Michael Grant and Tem Leader of the EU4Justice- Judiciary Support Project, Justice Renate Winter, spoke about guidelines and remarks upon the report.
The participants agreed upon next meetings with involvement of judges and participating sides.
