On November 9, 2017 a meeting was organized by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and High Council of Justice, Nino Gvenetadze with members of the High Council of Justice upon granting life tenure to judges.
Closed meeting was attended both by the judges with life tenure and those without this status at the current stage.
The aim of the meeting was sharing opinions about regulations, in particular 79 4 article of the organic law, concerning granting life tenure to judges and reaching a unified approach.
The members of the High Council of Justice, also judges with life tenure and participants of the meeting heard the views about granting or refusing life tenure to judges and a repeated appeal to the High Council of Justice.
The participants agreed upon provision of population and people concerned with information about the proposals connected with granting life tenure to the judges appointed for 3 years.
At the end of the meeting the Chairperson signed the resolution of the High Council of Justice upon granting life tenure to 34 judges.
