On December 21, 2015 in the Supreme Court of Georgia with the support of the Council of Europe Office to Georgia, the research presentation and discussion on prohibition of discrimination was held for the administrative, civil and criminal judges.
Within the meeting the European Human Rights expert Nana Mchedlidze presented the results of research on the topic: “The Guide to Domestic Legal Remedies on Discrimination Cases in Georgia.” The participants reviewed the existing legislation regarding discrimination, in particular, Article 14 of the Constitution and the compliance of law of Georgia on “Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination” with the European standards. The Conference participants also discussed the practices of European Court of Human Rights and the Common Courts of Georgia.
In February, arrival of international expert on discrimination is planned. The mentioned meeting aimed at gathering the important problematic issues that judges facing in practice, which will be reviewed after with the expert.
