The Supreme Court and the "Transparency International Georgia" signed the Memorandum of Understanding

On October 9, 2015, at the event held in the Supreme Court, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Supreme Court of Georgia and “Transparency International-Georgia” and in the framework of the same event the presentation was performed on the "the important clarifications of the Supreme Court decisions’ search system”.
The mentioned event was attended by the international donors and nongovernmental organizations. The meeting was opened by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court. Nino Gvenetadze noted that signing of the MoU, once again will conform that the purpose of the Supreme Court is the effective functioning of the common courts, assisting of creation of accountable, institutionally strong and independent judiciary. In the framework of the Memorandum, judiciary improvement activities and quality development joint educational, research and analytical projects is planned. Supreme Court of Georgia expressed the gratitude to "Transparency International - Georgia" for the active cooperation, which is connected to the common courts project on electronic software of random distribution of cases, that should create the bases of impartial, transparent and efficient distribution of cases among judges.
Eka Gigauri, Executive Director of the "Transparency International - Georgia" stated, that she welcomes that modern approaches which is to be implemented in the judiciary and emphasized that the introduction of the electronic system of the random distribution of cases in the common courts will significantly contribute to eradicate of errors existing in the system. In addition, the creation of important clarifications if the Supreme Court decisions search system will be one more important step forward for judicial transparency.
At the end of the meeting the Chairperson of the Supreme Court stated about the third monitoring report of criminal cases of "Transparency International - Georgia", and noted that the discussion of actual issues and critical recommendations envisaged in the report will be held in October 12, 2015 on the open session of the High Council of Justice. In the discussion process monitoring implementing body “Transparency International-Georgia” will take part.
