Austrian judges and prosecutors visit in the Supreme Court

On October 2, 2015 The Supreme Court of Georgia hosted the judges and prosecutors of the Austrian delegation. The delegation was led by the Chairperson of the Chamber of Vienna Court of Appeals Maria Venke Chervenka.
The meeting was attended by the judges of the Supreme Court and the members of High Council of Justice. The Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia greeted the foreign guests with welcome speech.
Nino Gvenetatdze informed the guests regarding the most important changes of the Georgian judiciary reform and paid particular attention about the activities planned under the third stage reform. Special accent was made on the role and of the Supreme Court as the highest and final instance court and the importance of new understanding of approaches and standards established by the European Convention on Human Rights.
Chairperson of the Supreme Court talked about the international projects and active support of donors in the reform implementation process. "Ongoing projects will allow the Georgian judges to use the European precedents and visions of Convention in their decisions that will contribute the development of Georgian Legal proceedings at the European level", stated the Chairperson of the Supreme Court.
The Chairperson of the Supreme Court informed the guests regarding the other ongoing and planned significant changes in the legal proceedings. Nino Gvenetadze expressed the willingness and readiness to continue further cooperation with the Austrian part in accordance of the concrete needs.
At the end of the meeting the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Chairperson of the chamber of Vienna Court of Appeals presented each other memorable gifts. Members of the delegation looked around the historic building of the Supreme Court the museum of justice.
