Presentation of Human Rights Centre of the Supreme Court of Georgia at the European Court of Human Rights

On June 11-13, 2014, European Court of Human Rights welcomed the 35th meeting of the European Coordination Committee on Human Rights Documentation (ECCHRD). European Coordination Committee on Human Rights Documentation organizes the meetings annually in different member countries of Council of Europe.

The delegation of the Supreme Court of Georgia was also invited in the meeting (the Manager of the Supreme Court Mr. Irakli Khutsurauli; the Deputy Head of the Department of Statistics and Analysis Ms. Sophio Tsakadze and the Chief Advisor in Human Rights at the Department of Court Statistics and Analysis Ms. Tinatin Bezhashvili). The meeting was also attended by the representatives of other state institutions and international and local NGOs (Bosnia, Ukraine, Norway, Denmark, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Moldova and the UK).

During the meeting, participants discussed such topics as: the processing and case review procedures by the European Court of Human Rights; the base functionality and search engines of HUDOC; Coordinated work of the Council of Europe and NGOs; Providing the access of information for people with disabilities; New ways of information dissemination with social media engagement on the example of the Committee against Torture (СPT).

It should be noted that the participants from the Supreme Court of Georgia presented the current and future activities of Human Rights Center. Attendees were particularly interested in the initiation of the Supreme Court of Georgia concerning Georgian-language search engine of the European Court of Human Rights that launched in May, 2014, which is already available on the Supreme Court webpage. The second part of the presentation was devoted to the presentation of translated into Georgian literature, prepared by the Human Rights Centre - the Fact-sheets (a topical reference) of the case law, recently published collection, as well as the selected Judgments and Decisions and Judgments and Decisions against Georgia - delivered by the European Court of Human Rights. The publications prepared by the Human Rights Centre of the Supreme Court of Georgia was given to the library of the European Court of Human Rights.

In 2015, the 36th Meeting will be held in Copenhagen (Denmark), and the next meeting will be held in Georgia.
