Visit of the Chairman of the Supreme Court in Kutaisi

On June 17, 2011, Konstantin Kublashvili, the Chairman of the Supreme Court, met the judges and staff of the Kutaisi City Court and representatives of media.

From 2006, the meetings of the Chairman of the Supreme Court are held periodically in the region of Imereti. For now, the aim of this meeting with journalists and court staff was to introduce the novelties undertaken at courts and outcomes of the court consumers surveys conducted during a year.
According to the final outcomes, the trust towards the Kutaisi City Court has increased. From May 2 to May 18 consumers’ research was conducted at 5 District and 3 City Courts of Georgia. In total 3787 respondents were interviewed, among them 636 respondents were interviewed at the Kutaisi City Court. Basically, the questions were concerned to the recent environment at courts, the approach of the court employees, terms of case trial and level of trust towards the courts.
The representatives of the international organizations, such as United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Norwegian Mission of Rule of Law Advisers to Georgia (NORLAG), and American Bar Association (ABA), were observing the current research.

In Kutaisi 93,7% of the interviewed respondents stated that their concern was addressed in time, maximum in 10 minutes and 92,7% considered, that the court fully provided them with the interesting information for them. With 55,1% (very good) had been estimated the politeness of the staff, while 39,2% think it is good.

It’s utmost important, that 82,3% of the interviewed respondents in Kutaisi considered, that their cases had been heard in proper time.

The last question of the research concerned to the trust of the court. At the Kutaisi City Court 71,4% of the citizens trust the court, while 21,8% trust it partially.

Just a year ago, on May of 2010, the analogize research was conducted by the USAID and the Supreme Court. On May of 2010, 62,4% of the respondents were stating their trust to the court, but in the same period of 2011, the trust indicator had been increased up to 71,4%.
