Discussion on the Judiciary Reforms at the State University

On February 13, 2013, the round table on - "Challenges before the Judiciary – Reform of the High Council of Justice" - was held at Ivane Javakhishvili State University.
The Chairman of the Supreme Court of Georgia Mr. Konstantin Kublashvili, the members of the judicial committee of Georgian Parliament, the law professors from the higher education institutions, legal professionals, scholars, and judges, representatives of NGOs and the international organizations, law faculty students participated in the round table.
Activity of the High Council of Justice is regulated by “the Law on Common Courts of Georgia.” The Ministry of Justice has submitted the package of legislative amendments on reforming the High Council of Justice to the Parliament for approval, though examination of the draft law in the Parliament was suspended before the final conclusion of the Venice Commission. The draft law is actively being discussed in our legal society. The discussion was held in this format.
