The Supreme Court responds to the statement issued by the Minister of Justice, Ms. Thea Tsulukiani, according to which the Minister calls up judicial branch for a coordinated and concerted work. 

The statement of the Minister was assumed as a basis the letter signed by the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Georgia which was sent to the Council of Europe, where the Chairman asked the Venice Commission to submit its conclusion concerning the draft project on legislative amendments, which was initiated by the Ministry of Justice and stipulates the structural reform of the judicial system.

The Supreme Court explains that the letter was sent to the Council of Europe through the local representation in Council of Europe and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Council of Europe, especially, the Venice Commission, from 2005 until the present made a major contribution to the improvement of the legislative database and made the very recommendations according to which our legislation was improved and became in compliance with the European standards
As for the call for concerted and coordinated efforts, the judicial branch express its readiness for such cooperation to complete successfully ingoing judicial reform and to overcome the new challenges raised before judiciary by joint efforts.

The Council of Europe, and particularly the Venice Commission, are longstanding business and benevolence partners and Georgian judicial branch within its competence and in accordance the law will continue such relationships.
