On October 9, 2012, the Camber of Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of Georgia approved the plea bargaining between the prosecutor and the convicted Tamaz Tamazashvili.
According to Tbilisi City Court judgment (30/04/2012), Mr. Tamaz Tamazashvili was convicted for purchase, storage and possession of firearms and explosive means and was sentenced for 3 years and 6 months imprisonment. Mr. Tamaz Tamazashvili serves his sentence from October 11, 2011.
The Judgment was upheld by Tbilisi Appeal Court.
The judgment was appealed before the Supreme Court of Georgia, while on the stage of case hearing the parties submitted the plea bargaining concerning the punishment.
The court gave detailed explanation of his rights to the convicted person. Accordingly the court was convinced that all the prerequisites of the plea bargaining was secured. Hereby, the parties (the defendant, his lawyer and the prosecutor), reiterated before the court that the plea bargaining was voluntary agreed.
The Supreme Court approved the plea bargaining reached between the parties and convicted Tamaz Tamazashvili was sentenced for 1 year imprisonment.
