Training Sessions for Judges held in Borjomi

On October 6-7, 2018, training sessions in competitive law for judges were held in Borjomi , within the EU project “ Support to Georgian Competition Agency “. The issues covered were: Abuse of dominant position, studying anti-competitive agreements and making decisions.
The event wa collaborated with the Supreme Court of Georgia and was aimed at enhancing qualification of judges in the field of competition issues.
The main focus was made on European experience and shearing practice of EU members on disputes concerning competition matters. The first seminar touched upon anti-competitive agreements, the second seminar covered issues of dominant position abuse, research in this field and relevant decisions.
The seminars were led by famous and respected European experts: Philippe R. Brusick, trade and development economics expert, former Head of UNCTAD`s Competition and Consumer Policies Branch (UNCTAD); Pedro Caro de Sousa- Expert, Directorate For Financial and Enterprise Affairs, (OECD); Aurelio La Torre- Project Team leader, representative of the European Union Assistance Project “ Support to the Georgian Competition Agency”.
