Delegation from Tajikistan and Belarus visited the Supreme Court of Georgia

On October 9, 2018 a delegation from Tajikistan and Belarus composing of representatives from judicial system, visited the Supreme Court of Georgia within a study visit. The aim of the visit was familiarization with Georgian judicial system.
The delegation members met representatives of Supreme Court of Georgia, Tbilisi City Court and the Court of Appeals, and in particular judges reviewing juvenile cases .They informed their Tajik and Belarusian colleagues about important aspects of developing Georgian juvenile justice code and its implementation .
Judge of the criminal chamber of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Paata Silagadze highlighted the role of international donor organizations and their support in development and implementation of the juvenile justice code in Georgia and mentioned about constant improvement processes in order to eliminate shortcomings in this field.
The focal point of the visitors was the process of training courses and capacity-building for judges, involvement of psychologists, training modules, issues of diversion and restorative justice for juveniles.
A judge from the criminal panel of Tbilisi City Court, Eka Areshidze and a judge from Tbilisi Court of Appeals, Tamar Alania provided the visitors with detailed information on the above mentioned.
Besides the Supreme Court, the delegation met representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, Chief Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia, National Probation Agency, Mediation House, Rustavi City Court and other institutions.
The visit to the Supreme Court of Georgia was concluded by a sightseeing tour around the historical building of the Supreme Court and the Museum of Justice.
