Nino Bakakuri Participating in CCJE Working Meeting in Portugal

On June 13-15 the Supreme Court Judge Nino Bakakuri participated in the meeting of the CCJE Working Group concerning presentation of the Opinion on judicial integrity and corruption. The meeting took place in Porto (Portugal).
The European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice established on 18 September 2002, is a judicial body, composed of experts from 47 member States of the Council of Europe. Its aim is to improve the efficiency and functioning of justice in the member States and to develop the implementation of the instruments adopted by the Council.
Working group including 12 Judges is about to prepare the Opinion which will include recommendations based on the concept of judicial integrity, corruption (perceived as one of the main threats to judicial integrity), and its causes, as well as on sanctions and prevention of corruption. The draft opinion shall be adopted at the plenary meeting of the CCJE to be held in Strasbourg from 7 to 9 November 2018.
