Nino Gvenetadze at the World Congress on Justice for Children

On May 28-30 , World Congress on Justice for Children was held in Paris, attended by the Chairperson of Supreme Court of Georgia and the chairperson of the High Council of Justice Nino Gvenetadze.
The visit was supported by the United Nations Children`s Fund Office of Georgia.
As a panel moderator for the forum on "Legal Assistance for Children: Existing Practices and Challenges”, On May 29 , Nino Gvenetadze presented a report and spoke about successful cooperation of court and the legal aid service ,as a result of the reform of the juvenile justice code implemented in Georgia in 2015.
Nino Gvenetadze touched the issues of specialization and involvement of specialized judiciary personnel , in juvenile justice through reforms and reviewed the cases envisaged by the legislation of the Legal Aid Service attorneys in the proceedings.
The Chairperson of the Supreme Court also noted the tendency of reduction of punitive measures and introduced statistical data, demonstrating growth of alternative measures .
In her speech, Nino Gvenetadze also spoke about the role of international and donor organizations in implementation and administration of the free legal aid service for juvenile justice
