In 2012, the courts will actively continue their court consumers researches. At the beginning of the year, in the period of January 12-27, the citizens having attended the part of the court session, when the judge declares the final court decision, were interviewed at two regional courts. This time, the topic of the research was the evaluation of the communication skills of judges during the court process. The research area covered Khelvachauri and Ozurgeti courts.
Total of 315 citizens were interviewed. They evaluated the quality and time to explain a decision by the judge, as well as judges behavior and techniques of the trial organization in the courtroom.
98% of the interviewed think that the judge was polite during the trial. 99% state that at the end of the process, the judge provided an explanation, which was clear and understandable for 89% of the interviewed, and 86% of the interviewed think that the concrete outcome of their cases became clear to them after listening to the judges explanation.
80% of the interviewed citizens are satisfied with the work of the court, while 12% are satisfied to a certain degree and 8% are dissatisfied.
For the judiciary, the priorities in 2012 will be improving the judges communication skills with the audience in the courtroom and improving the quality of validity of the court decisions.
Activation of the judiciary in this direction will help the citizens to further understand the objective or legal reasons for the judges decision. In the final account this will increase the citizens legal awareness and trust to the court.
