Nino Gvenetadze Held a Meeting with Diplomatic Corps

On December 15, 2017 a meeting was held with diplomatic corps led by Nino Gvenetadze, Chairwoman of the Supreme Court of Georgia and HCoJ. The chairwoman made a presentation of activities in the judiciary accomplished by the Supreme Court in 2017. She talked about reforms, achievements and challenges still existing in the judicial system of Georgia.  In the presentation the chairwoman highlighted the following issues: further strengthening of the institutional independence of HCoJ, transparency and provision of civil  community and international involvement, independence and impartiality of judges, necessity to improve and specify transitional  legislative provision for life tenure of  judges,  launching pilot mode for electronic distribution of cases and its complete implementation by the end of the year in the department of common courts on the national scale. The chairwoman also focused on benefits of the newly-formed institute for Independent Inspectors that had been assigned 116 cases of appeals this year; issues of judges professional development; training seminars performed by the training center of High School of Justice; importance of coordination with High Council of Justice; progressive infrastructural projects; building of 28 new halls for Civil Cases Panel of Tbilisi City Court. Ms.Nino Gvenetadze thanked representatives of the diplomatic corps and donor organizations for their support to the judiciary and she expressed hope for further close collaboration.  The meeting was attended by the Secretary and members of High Council of Justice, and judges of the Supreme Court of Georgia.
