Seminars held in Kakheti on the Issues of Violence against Women

On December 12-14, 2017 a training seminar was held in Telavi, hotel “Savaneti” with financial support of UN Women and organized by Human Rights Academy of the Public Defender of Georgia. The participants of the sessions were heads and representatives of analytical, PR departments and Chancellery of the City Courts and Court of Appeals. The training was led by international expert Maria Giuseppina Muratore, expert Ana Arganashvili and the Head of the Department of Gender Equality of the Public Defender`s Office, Ana Iluridze. The training was aimed at covering the following issues: international regulations for gender-based violence, data collection methodology, characteristics of the statistical system of justice, importance of analyzing court decisions, obligation of the state to collect statistics on violence against women and domestic violence, current situation and other issues. The participants were involved in group activities, introducing their own presentations and debating upon issues. The training seminars were concluded with certificate award ceremony, issued by the Human Rights Academy of the Public Defender of Georgia.
