A Danish Expert, Jesper Wittrup visited the Supreme Court of Georgia

In the framework of cooperation for justice a Danish expert, Jesper Wittrup visited the Supreme Court of Georgia on October 3, 2017. He met judges of the Supreme Court and administration members and discussed issues of the first stage of exploratory study concerning estimation of appropriate number of judges and judicial staff.

Jasper Wittrup is an experienced expert of performance assessment, measurement and management, resources allocation. He has 20 years of work experience in the public sector in the field of administrative reforms. He focuses on judicial and educational issues working as a consultant and researcher. He had meetings with managers of structural units of the Supreme Court  head of Legal Support Department- Nata Lomtatidze,  head of Legal Support and Statistics Department- Lia Mchedlishvili, a representative of Financial and Logistics Department- Roin Giunashvili, Head of IT Department of the Common Courts Department-Giorgi Asanidze, a representative of the Common Courts Department-Gocha Melikidze.

They discussed such topics as: court staff, budget, incoming cases, number of completed cases, quality of high-level data provision, reliability, filing of cases, statistical accounts, system of duty allocation.

On behalf of the Supreme Court of Georgia the Danish expert was greeted by the judge of Chamber of Civil Cases, Ekaterine Gasitashvili. He was also met by other judges of the Chamber, Georgian representatives of the European Commission for Efficiency of Justice, Nino Bakakuri and Zurab Dzlierashvili. Ekaterine Gasitashvili informed the expert about those important reforms that had been implemented in the judicial system and that made it possible to improve the system operation qualitatively for independent and more efficient justice. Deputy Chief of the Project of the United States Agency for International Development(PROLoG),  Neil Weinstein also attended the event.
