International Conference “Arbitration Days in Tbilisi 2017”

Annual International Conference “Arbitration Days 2017” that was held at the hotel “Radisson Blue Iveria “ during 2 days, was over on October 3. The conference was organized by the Georgian International Arbitration Center (GIAC) and financed by a generous contribution of EU and UNDP.
The conference participants were leading arbitration experts and practitioners from Great Britain, Netherlands, France, Germany and Georgia.
The conference raised awareness about alternative dispute resolution, promotion of justice reform support and making Georgia a regional center. The partners of the event were Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, law firms “Nodia, Urumashvili & Partners” “Gvinadze & Partners” and “EY Georgia”.
Mzia Todua -Chair of Civil Cases Collegium of the Supreme Court of Georgia, that was supervising the judicial panel at the conference, made a presentation about key issues of arbitration procedures, like concept of arbitration, its origins and reasons for formation, priorities, negative features and criteria of international arbitration. The issues of UNCITRAL arbitration model law that had a great influence on national legislation of many countries, were particularly highlighted in the presentation.
