Meeting upon Issues of Guardianship in Civil Cases

On October 7-8, a working meeting was held in Borjomi in the framework of cooperation between  the Supreme Court of Georgia and GIZ. A judge of Berlin Social  Court,  Maria Memmel was invited to the meeting. The judge shared her experience in the field of guardianship with judges of Tbilisi City Court, Regional Courts of Sighnaghi, Gurjaani, Khashuri, Rustavi, Mtskheta, Dmanisi and Akhaltsikhe, Legal Aid solicitors and social workers. She talked about the first instance court practice, grounding for a new case in the guardianship process, judicial capacity and importance of the guardianship institution, rights and duties of the parts, including duties of the judges in legal proceedings, in concordance with  German legislation.

It should be noted that similar meeting was organized by GIZ at Tbilisi City Court on April 7, 2017 with participation of an expert, Heinrich Schnitger.
