On December 15 of 2016 The meeting of the executive board of the Judiciary Support Project – Fair Trial for All was held at the Supreme Court of Georgia. The Judiciary Support Project forms part of the comprehensive EU/Georgia programme “Support to the Justice Reform” (EU4Justice) in Georgia. The project aims to improve people’s access to fair and prompt trials at courts though strengthening the quality, independence, transparency, accountability and efficiency of the judiciary system in line with European and international Standards.
The participants were welcomed by the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Ms. Nino Gvenetadze, the chairperson of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Mr. Zaza Tavadze, The EU judicial program Manager, Mr. Peter Denis and the project Manager, Ms. Renate Winter.
The executive board consisting of the representatives of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the High Council of Justice, the High school of Justice and EU project will elaborate the recommendations how to improve the quality of the judiciary. The meetings will be held once in every 6 month where the issues on project implementation and future plans will be discussed.
The duration of the Project is 32 months (October 2016 –May 2019) and its budget is EUR 2 million.
