Round Table on the Topic of the Jury

On May 18 of  2016, at the Hotel “Ambassador” in Tbilisi, with the  support  of the Georgian office of the European Council within the format of the round table the two-day  working meeting on the topic of the Trial by  Jury was opened. The meeting was directed by the expert of  many years in the sphere of the human rights  protection and the human rights   lecturer  of the Universities of Birmingham, Central Europe, Stockholm and Cambridge – Mr. Jeremy McBride.  

Within the frames of the two-day working meeting, the participants will discuss the following problems regarding  the  Trial by Jury: procedures of selecting the jury and their impartiality; special arrangements directed towards the protection of the jury from mass-media; standards of the Convention of Europe on the grounded decision and  verdict of the jury.          

The round table on the topic of the Trial by Jury will be closed on May 19 of the current  year and judges of the General Courts with the  specialization  in the criminal law and  also other interested persons are taking  part.
