The working meeting with judges in connection with the enactment of new procedure on questioning of witness

On February 17, 2016 at the Supreme Court the working meeting was held in connection with enactment of Article 114 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia on “the rule of witness interrogation during the investigation". Coming out from the interest of justice, the working meeting participants were judges and secretaries of criminal collegiums of Tbilisi city court and the East Georgia district/city courts.
The Chairperson of the Supreme Court and the High Council of Justice was chaired the meeting. Nino Gvenetadze informed the judges regarding the legal, technical and organizational aspects that are connected with the new procedure of witness interrogation.
The aim of the workshop was the sharing of views in respect with the new rule of witness interrogation. In the framework of the working meeting the participants discussed in detail the legislative amendments of the Criminal Procedure Code and also the standards of witness interrogation with regard to the existing practice of the European Court of Human Rights.
The meeting was underway in active discussion. Implementation of same kind of workshop is planned on February 21 with the judges of the West Georgia district /city courts in the High School of Justice’s Tskaltubo regional training center.
