The Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and the High Council of Justice Nino Gvenetadze met within the official visit with Guido Raimondi

On January 29, 2016 the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and the High Council of Justice Nino Gvenetadze held the meeting with the President of the European Court of Human Rights Guido Raimondi.

Nino Gvenetadze at the meeting talked about the legislative amendments planned in the scope of third wave reform of judiciary. Particular attention was paid to reform proposal, which is connected to the establishment of the so-called "Rendom" project on Electronic and random distribution of cases in the common courts of Georgia.  Mentioned project will contribute to carry out the legal proceedings in an impartial, transparent and efficient manner.

The Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and the High Council of Justice noted at the meeting that in the framework of the reform in order to improve accountability of judges it is planned to introduce the Specific institutions – “Independent Inspector” and "Management Department". At the meeting discussion was held on workload of judges, effectiveness of legal proceedings and constant upgrading of qualifications of judges. Nino Gvenetadze informed to Guido Raimondi that at this stage by assistance of Council of Europe experts the refinement of Georgian electronic search system of European Court’s decisions is underway by envisaging of technical characteristics of electronic search system of European Court of Human Rights (HUDOC).

At the end of the meeting parties expressed hope that the cooperation will be continued even more intensively, moreover, after the enactment of the Protocol 16 of the European Convention, the Supreme Court, as the highest and ultimate court will be able to apply the European Court of human Rights for an advisory opinion.

The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe Konstantine Korkelia and the European Court of Human Rights Judge Nona Tsotsoria.
